June/July Birthday

Last fab farm quilt block had not been picked up but a new volunteer was found

Stitching Hearts Worldwide. Need bags turned in the middle of July.  New location is 90 so Main street, Pleasant Grove.  Fabric Sale this week because of Strawberry Days.

Strawberry quilt show 2-6.  Starts today (18th). At Old town Hall, 100 East. PG.

Tris.  Final payment for November’s Fall Retreat is due before July 1st.  Check with me, I have the final amount due or check your email.

Wendy Springville Quilt show is rapidly approaching. Need volunteers.  Sign up July 11 and 12.  Signup sheets are going around. They will be hanging quilts on Monday, July 19.  It’s fun to see those walls go from blank to an incredible show.


July Fair:

Darsha – Bake sale next month.  Please sign up and bring to the July Fair.

Busy bee. Anyone hear annoying buzzing. Something’s bothering me.  Anyone have a fly swatter……


Sue – WE NEED YOUR HELP.  I’ve done a lot and I need your help. Need help with yard sale sign ups, Ping pong toss where you can win a pin cushion; bake sale;

(You can still bring stuff for the yard sale and bake sale without siging up, just have it labeled for price and amount (if yardage).





Prodi flowers. They will have everything necessary to be able to make these flowers. They will have the tools if you like it and you want to buy more kits, they will have them, also.

Booklet is almost ready to print. Not sure of cost yet.  

Laurel and Maxine doing a little thing about pin cushions and aprons.  She will tell the history and show a collection of her mom’s, even modern day ones.  Aprons are going to be a thing for our workers.



Picture for the silent auction.  Bid starting at $120.  Bring cash, cash is best or a check. 

Cute planters, to  be displayed on dining tables at the July Fair.  They will be a door prizes. 

Everyone will get something when they go to each of the classes.

Reminder to go to the Red Barn in Wallsburg next time, not at this Sr. building.  Pre order lunches!

Lorna Zimmerman – Christmas Forest (made over 20 years ago and didn’t like it.  I found it in my stash and finished it).  


Lorna Zimmerman – Autumn Afternoon – a Bock of the month.


Mary Snow – Quilted Jacket, make 3 or 4 baby quilts, wash 3 or 4 times and cut up the fabric.

Mary Snow – Squares & Diamonds. From a pattern that answers what to do with fat quarter.

Susanne Gillette – Paper pieced – Project started at Under the Garden Moon Retreat


Marilyn Yerkes - Lori Holt Bonnets, since the 24th of July is not far off.

Karen Marshall – Stars & Stripes. Son is retiring from 25 years in the army.  Middle part is a panel.  The rest of it is the One Block Wonder made up of the same panel.



Debbie Parker – Spring Sampler with pastel scraps. These blocks were free at a retreat, added a bit more fabric to make this.

Nancy Palmer – Picnic Quilt (Blue grunge w/ 396 2½ inch squares. Is on a mission this year to use all my thousands and thousands of 2½ inch square.  Easiest quilt ever.


RevaBeth Russell – Tessellations in Tring. (one of these things is a lot like the other.)   Two years of retreats to make.

How to put together two sides of a zipper.
Cut 1/2 inch off one side, put zipper pull on it and insert the other side and pull up.  (She made it look easy.)




Applique (Karlene Riggs)



Folding fabric around freezer paper.  Sew down as much as possible before pulling out.  The basket, all the outside edges are done, fold around inside of basket, then pull out paper before sewing.

This quilt was all done with freezer paper.

(8) Karen Crawford - Saw this quilt hanging at Springville Quilt Museum.  Used triangles on a roll for the triangles.  Red has a lot of different shades.
