Appliqued boot & Hat
for her grandson named Stetson.
Started with a pattern using jelly roll strips. When she finished the first boot, she thought it was so hideous and ugly, that she couldn't do it. So she drew boots and hats that took for ever.
This is what she ended up with.
(Appliqued with clear thread.) Will add a hanging sleeve to go on the wall.
With the scraps that were left, she made this quilt for him to throw on the ground to roll around with...
And a pillow case.
And, with all the brown scraps she wanted to get rid of, she also made two charity quilts.
Winner of the best hat from the Jelly roll race.

Mike Oakdale.
(Made a storm trooper as his first quilt, took 18 months for first quilt.
1) Learned really fast that "copyright is scary". Never going to be able sell these quilts.
One of the first quilts was given to a girls boyfriend. When he saw it, it said, "wow, this is legit"
So he changed the name from some Star Wars something name to "Legit Kit" since he couldn't use the franchise names.
So he changed the name from some Star Wars something name to "Legit Kit" since he couldn't use the franchise names.
2) Learned "Artist make art".
3) Color, the more color the better. First company was Kona cottons. 365 colors.
Mike was invited to be on Shark Tank this year out of 40,000 applicants. Mike was one of about 100 that were accepted to the program. Mike walks in with his skull panel pants and said quilting is a 5.4 billion dollar industry and all a sudden, all the sharks perked up. Would love to do some of the copyrighted items, like Star Wars or Harry Potter, someday.
Color Vortex.
All the kits come in sets of one blocks. Build one block at a time.
